Studio Founder

Sumiyo AmanoSumiyo Amano (@DesigntechTweet) is the founder and the creative director of Designtech Studio.

She was born and raised in Kumamoto, Japan. At age 14, she moved to the United States as a foreign exchange student where she learned English as her second language.

Sumiyo's interest in color, texture, pattern, and composition granted her to study media arts at a state funded arts education program at Perpich Center for Arts Education.

The studies in studio art, art history, religious studies, photography, computer graphics, video editing, and web design lead her to receive an AA degree in multi-media arts in 1998 and a BA in Fine Arts in 2005 from the University of Colorado.

Sumiyo has worked as a senior web designer for a globally recognized engineering firm from 1997 to 2007 where she worked on numerous large-scale public involvement projects.

Designtech Studio, Inc. was formed in 2001. Sumiyo worked as a freelance web and graphic designer catering to small businesses. After she left the corporate world in 2007, Sumiyo has focused on developing her business as a premiere web design and web development studio in Colorado.

Sumiyo's designs are striking, unique, flexible, and range in style, thanks to her many years of experience in working with a variety of clients and projects. Her ability to understand the heart of the project, to provide insightful suggestions, and to have skills and talents to produce the final products have gained her many returning and new clients.

Sumiyo enjoys the outdoors all year round with hiking, camping, snowshoeing, snowboarding, and sailing.  She also loves knitting and cooking.  She lives near Boulder, Colorado with her husband and their adorable dog :)
